Week 37 to 39

 

Run on 4 September at Dwellingup

 

After the WTF recon I had another 9 hour run weekend before a rest week and then a final 9 hour session before a taper for WTF Hundred miler.

The week starting 16 August with strength sessions at the gym on 3 days . Lots of meditation and the long weekend .First run was just on the Tonkin /Reid Hwy bike path for 25km and  5km in the gym and the second at John Forrest National Park on Sunday for 27km .Found the body tiring possibly after 3 weeks of long run sessions .

 

The following week was an easy week but ended up running in the Mind Focused Group Relay team in the Great Relay at Kalamunda. Lots of teams and a great atmosphere . each runner ran 10 rounds of 2.5km for 25km .Took us 10 hours so was a long Saturday. I was supposed to run on Sunday for 2 hours but decided to just have a rest day .

 

The following week was the last long session and a second recon at Dwellingup.A very early start with leaving the house at 4am and getting to Dwellingup just before 6am . Was really cold .Car indicator was it was 2 degrees and there was fog on the road. Nearly hit a young Joey standing in the middle of Del Park Road just before Dwellingup. Started leg 1 with the group of runners . I ran by myself with Louise and Beryl at the back but kept in touch with messenger. Ran the course on the Garmin but apparently I was suppose to turn around and run back on the course but I just ran back once I got back on the main fire trail .Did about 24km .Dave and the runners ahead then came up and knew they would be way a head for me and found out that I had to run back on the course rather than a loop. Once I got back I ran leg 2 or at least part of it as it was a 32km leg. I got to 12.5km and turned around and did 25km for a total of 50km . Legs were ok but my right plantar was tender. Did about 1200m of vert even with missing a 5km section of leg 1 so the course will have a lot of vert when doing the legs twice.

Sunday was a 5 hour run but having done 8 plus hours on Saturday I did an easy 30 mins to round out the week .
