Week 24 Runningworks 3 Valley 25km

RunningWorks 25km at Bickley on Sunday 23 May 2021

Molly with the Medal 25km

As I had a race it was relatively easy week .

Just the hill session with 6 repeats of Kokoda at King's Park and then a short 30 min run and 1 hour steady walking. On Saturday I headed out to Bickley to run for 3-4 hours but the calf was sore and stiff and so lasted an hour .As I was running the 25km race on Sunday I decided to rest .It worked and managed to run the course. Took 4 hours but enjoyed it practiced See Hear feel meditation on the run.As the pictures indicate it was a great cool day with a bit of rain.I kept a steady pace and walked the hills . Found the run enjoyable and whilst the right heel was a little sore managed to run without too much discomfort. I did the first 10km in 1.32 and the 15km in 2.28 m  . Fairly consistent with the elevation in the 15km being twice as much as the first 10km .I took it easy given my sore right calf and walked all the hills even the short rises. I meditated throughout with flow meditation obviously drifting out of the meditation but bringing my thoughts back to flow. That went on for the 4 hours I was on the course and time did fly . I enjoyed the views and at the last lap I had a few runners around me.Martha whom I knew was ahead throughout but at the 10km mark I left the turnaround to start the 15 km before her but within 2 km she caught up and passed me and was ahead and for the last 3-4 km I could see her and in the end I finished just behind her with the same time.  The leg is a little sore after the race .Caught up with a few friends and enjoyed the atmosphere. On the last stretch of training before Avon Valley Wild Goose in June.

week 22 & 23

Bickley

John Forest along the Heritage Trail

A fairly good week of running .Hit 80 kms again with a 4.5 hour run on Saturday and 14 km on Sunday with a total of over 1200m of elevation .Slow because of the single track and goat trails but getting better at traversing these trails. At Bickley lots more runners running the Gpx course sent out.I missed getting it till after the weekend but managed to follow the course a little. Will run the course again on Sunday.

The rest of the week was a mix of 6 x 1 mins .I had the day off and did it near home but got rained on. Wednesday I had a 90 min walk which I did at lunch time and then a 90 min run walk in the evening.Did 22km for the day.Thursday had a rest day instead of running as I had several meetings.

The following week was an easy week so enjoyed the recovery week.I did have a sore right calf and heel and so on Sunday skipped the run
