Podcast Week 25

Its a long road

This week back to a build with long runs on the weekend again. The leg despite some soreness is feeling better but had a toenail that was painful and had a build up of blood which meant I had to pierce the nail to release it . Usual runs  during the week and double the meditation time . Found my calf sore on Tuesday with the sprints but it settled down with the walk on Wednesday and the run/walk on Thursday.Managed to do a yoga class on Wednesday and a short strength work out. Saturday was a stormy day so no run out in the Avon Valley.I ended up with a 3 hour run on a treadmill listening to Samantha Gash Podcast for half the time and meditating as well.

Enjoyed the chat she had with Dean karnazes (see her link to the samantha gash podcast with Dean Kazanes)

The interview was late last year when there was still great uncertainty re covid and his fears of the return to trail and run races as we know it .There was also the introspection about running and the mindset of ultrarunners Samantha's little blurb states:

We explore –

  • how “running is his salvation”
  • the benefit & how to engage your family in your personal pursuits
  • how he copes with critics
  • having a growth mindset
  • First Known Time versus Fastest Known Time
  • creating a movement through movement.

I enjoyed the chat and the punchline

‘to know thyself you have to push thyself’

Lots of stories from both of them about their running adventures and what they have learnt about resilience.

Sunday long run along the highway and in the rain just over 3 hours and lots of meditation .
